Google Talk?

Google Talk? What is this? Is Google getting into on the web telephony trend? Yes they are! The search giant now provides a beta version down load of Google Talk at no-charge.

Google Talk allows users to IM or make calls over the Internet utilizing a PC, speakers and microphone, again; no charge. The new Google software may be saved by anyone with Windows 2000 system or later.

Needless to say it is possible to only call or IM others who’ve downloaded the Google Talk software. Both parties need to have a Gmail account to log onto the Google Talk messenger.

Google has caused it to be relatively easy to add individuals to the contacts list of the messenger. Invitations are sent straight from the messenger or from the user’s Gmail account. There’s no limit for the variety of users it’s possible to have on their contact number.

With that being said, I chose to give Google Talk a spin myself. The UI is straightforward to use and understand, with Internet contacting, instant messaging, e-mail, and of-course, Google search. The consumer control’s again are pretty cut and dry, it is a little plain looking, however; this I think add’s to it’s simplicity. Other than a lack of ad’s, the only thing new about that may be the fact it is from Google.
